About the Organization:


The Microinsurance Network is a not-for-profit organization, whose mission is to promote effective insurance for low-income people by encouraging shared learning, facilitating knowledge generation, and working together with a broad range of stakeholders. The Network includes currently more than 70 institutional members and 30 individual members, who are active in 15 working and discussion groups. Although already operational for ten years as an informal platform, the Network was formalized this year. They are now looking to recruit a small team for the Secretariat.

About the Job:


The Microinsurance Network is seeking a Network Communication Coordinator, who will be responsible for ensuring effective communication and visibility of the Network's activities as well as raising awareness about microinsurance among different stakeholder groups. The position is ideally based in Luxembourg with global travel requirements.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the Network's communication and outreach strategy:

    • Establish yearly communication plans;
    • Coordinate the development of the Network branding and update tools accordingly;
    • Identify opportunities for the Network to use existing and emerging tools and channels.
  • Ensure an effective communication to all relevant stakeholders:

    • Coordinate the development of the Network's new website 2.0 with user-centered design and different access levels;
    • Maintain the website and social media; coordinate the publication process including layout, printing, quality control, and dissemination;
    • Produce the Network's newsletter and promotional material;
    • Monitor stakeholders and other relevant websites for news and microinsurance events.
  • Establish relations with members and follow up on members' activities:

    • Integrate information about members and activities in the Network's communication;
    • Produce a monthly electronic newsletter for members (internal communication);
    • Propose creative ways to improve the community of members and organize satisfaction surveys.
  • Manage the Network's events:

    • Plan and organize events for members and the general public like the local member meetings, and the June and November meetings;
    • Set up and implement specific campaigns (online, member outreach).
  • Coordinate media and press relations:

    • Establish a media plan with a key events calendar;
    • Write press releases;
    • Set up and maintain a media network.
  • Work within a team environment and set up and track effectiveness indicators, user statistics, budgets, and expenses.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Master degree (or equivalent) in Journalism, Communication or similar field;
  • At least 5 years employment experience as a journalist or in a communication role within a small-set up with international exposure, preferably in different countries;
  • Experience with copywriting and proven project management and analytical skills;
  • Fluency in English. Any other language is a plus, especially French and Spanish;
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and good knowledge of HTML and CMS;
  • Ability to convey complex ideas in a creative and clear way and with a good sense for public relations;
  • Strong strategic thinker.
